Lil’ Goodness, the Bangalore-based children’s food and nutrition startup launches a first of its kind Vitamin B12 Jaggery, as a quick and easy vitamin B-12 fix in the predominantly vegetarian Indian diet. The jaggery is vegan, non-GMO, pesticide free and allergen free. One sachet of jaggery fulfills the daily requirement of Vitamin B-12. It is a free-flowing powder with a shelf-life of a year without any preservatives and is easy to carry for daily use.

According to the National Family Health Survey-5, 74 per cent Indians have insufficient Vitamin B12. It is very important for the production of haemoglobin, has a correlation with diabetes and iron deficiency.  Hence, incorporating Vitamin B-12 in one’s daily diet is crucial.

The B12 microencapsulated jaggery has the B12 vitamin entrapped in a thin layer of coating (microencapsulation) around Palmyra Jaggery particles to retain its natural properties and nutrients. The unique micro-encapsulation process ensures a standardized amount of Vitamin B12, with one sachet of the B12 jaggery meeting 100 per cent daily requirement of Vitamin B12. This jaggery can be an excellent and healthy substitute for sugar in any recipe, including cakes, smoothies, tea, coffee, halwa, porridge, and so on.

Harshavardhan, co-founder and CEO, Lil’ Goodness, said, “At Lil’ Goodness, we believe in offering healthy and innovative food products that cater to the nutritional needs of millennial families, especially kids. The B12 jaggery is an outcome of our extensive research of nutritional deficiencies in the Indian families, and filling those gaps through natural plant based sources. Jaggery, a common staple used in Indian households, just got a whole lot healthier.”

Pariksha Rao, co-founder and chief nutrition officer, Lil’ Goodness, said, “We are extremely thrilled to introduce Vitamin B12 Jaggery which addresses one of the most neglected deficiencies among both children and adults. As Indians, our diet is mostly vegetarian, and finding a good source of B-12 is a challenge. Vitamin B12 Jaggery will address that issue and also become your daily dose of Goodness. Our mission will always be to figure out simple and effective ways in which our existing dietary habits can be enriched and this launch continues our journey.”

Vitamin B12 helps in formation of red blood cells, improves energy levels, athletic performance, and cognitive capacity and prevents brain damage and depression, maintains eye health, improves heart health by reducing homocysteine levels and supports healthy skin, hair and nails.

This is one of its kind jaggery where vitamin B12 is micro- encapsulated in a thin layer of palmyra jaggery. One sachet of 5 gram provides 100 per cent RDA of vitamin B12. Palmyra jaggery is rich in essential minerals. According to some studies, it has 60 times more minerals than white sugar. Due to its low glycemic load, it is a good option for diabetics as well.

The brand has been a game-changer in the Indian kid’s nutrition market, offering unique and innovative food products for a health-conscious modern India. They launched prebiotic chocolates which strengthen gut health and immunity. They have recently introduced a range of products based on Teff, a super grain from Ethiopia which is gluten free, rich in proteins, iron and Vitamin C.
