IPEMA–Poultry India marks World Veterinary Day 2026 with focus on food safety

Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers Association–Poultry India participated in the celebrations of World Veterinary Day 2026, held in collaboration with the Department of Poultry Science at the College of Veterinary Science (CVSc), Rajendranagar, Hyderabad.
The event, themed ‘Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health’, was attended by vice chancellor Dr M Gnana Prakash as chief guest and Dr M Udaya Kumar as guest of honour. Uday Singh Bayas, president of IPEMA–Poultry India, special guest, highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between academia and industry.
Chaired by Dr RMV Prasad, the programme brought together faculty, students, and industry professionals for technical sessions and discussions. Addressing the gathering, Bayas underscored the vital role of veterinarians in ensuring food safety and public health, while also stressing the need to counter misconceptions about poultry and nutrition.
As part of the event, prizes were distributed to winners of an elocution competition on ‘Poultry Products and Lifestyle Diseases: Myths, Facts, and Veterinary Insights’, encouraging scientific awareness among students.
During the technical session, experts including Dr Mujeeb Ather and Dr Srinivas Rama Raju spoke on career opportunities in the poultry sector, entrepreneurship, and emerging industry prospects, motivating students to explore diverse pathways in poultry and veterinary science.
The event highlighted the growing role of veterinarians in public health and the expanding poultry sector, while serving as a platform to inspire future professionals.
