?The Delhi Food Safety Department has launched an extensive inspection drive targeting cloud kitchens and major food aggregators like Zomato and Swiggy.
?As per reports, the crackdown comes amid rising concerns over hygiene standards in 'ghost kitchens' that operate without physical storefronts, making them difficult for consumers to monitor.
?Under the new regulatory framework, the department is deploying advanced geo-tagging technology to verify the physical locations of every registered outlet.
?Reports add that this digital initiative aims to eliminate unauthorised operators who often run multiple 'brands' from a single, substandard facility.
?Food Safety Officers (FSOs) have been directed to conduct surprise audits, focusing on high-risk areas with dense clusters of delivery-only businesses.
?Authorities warned that any kitchen found operating in unhygienic conditions or without a valid licence would face immediate closure and a fine of up to ?5 lakh.
