The ICAR–Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Trust ARS Rubber Private Limited, Chengalpattu, for the technology transfer of protective gloves designed for cotton-picking workers. The agreement was signed on October 22, 2026, to facilitate the commercialisation and wider availability of the gloves.

The specially designed gloves aim to protect cotton-picking workers from hand injuries caused by sharp cotton bracts during harvesting operations while ensuring flexibility and comfort. Their durable and reusable construction makes them suitable for repeated use under demanding agricultural field conditions.

The technology transfer is expected to benefit cotton farmers and agricultural labourers by promoting the use of appropriate protective equipment, improving workplace safety and encouraging safer harvesting practices.

The collaboration marks a step towards strengthening industry–research partnerships and translating scientific innovations into practical solutions for the agricultural sector. Through this initiative, ICAR-CIRCOT aims to address field-level challenges, enhance occupational safety and improve the well-being of workers across the cotton value chain.
