FSSAI notifies revised stds for milk fat, SNF for sheep, goat milk

The FSSAI has notified the revised standards for milk fat and milk solids not fat (SNF) wherein the SNF limit for sheep milk has been raised by 1 per cent.
According to the notified regulation, for sheep milk the fat limit is set at 3.0 per cent and SNF limit is set at 9.0 per cent.
Similarly, for goat milk, the fat limit is set at 3.0 per cent while SNF limit is set at 8 per cent.
Called the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Second Amendment Regulations, 2023, these regulations were notified to amend the item (b) relating to composition of the milk under clause 2 of sub-regulation 2.1.2 relating to Standards for Milk under regulation 2.1 of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.
The FBOs were asked to comply with the provisions of these amended regulations from September 1, 2023.
