FreshToHome received 1 order per second in 2021: Statistics Report

Our Bureau, Mumbai
FreshToHome, the world’s largest fully integrated online brand in fresh fish and meat e-commerce, through its Statistics Report 2021, has disclosed that chicken, mutton, fish and prawns, respectively are the most ordered products on its website and app.

Receiving nearly 1 order per second, it clocked more than 2 million orders per month 2021. In addition to this, the brand added 8 lakh plus new meat lovers in 2021.

While Chicken and Rohu fish ranked as the most sought and ordered products across North India, down South, chicken, still ruled everyone’s heart and Sardine was the fish of choice, followed by the meaty mutton.

Interestingly, chicken also became the most ‘added to cart' item and then forgotten across all the cities in India.

In 2021 alone, it entered various serviceable pin codes; it now covers 80% of Kerala and 86 cities. The platform also added 8 new processing centres in 2021.

Shan Kadavil, co-founder and CEO, FreshToHome, said, “2021 has been a great year for FreshToHome. The report reveals some interesting and evolving trends in the industry. The report revealed that we received 1 order every second in 2021; while people’s love for chicken across the country became more evident as it became the most ordered product everywhere, Fish continues to be a very large percentage of the protein requirement in India. As FreshToHome continues to grow online and offline including the launch of 100 stores, we are confident of providing the freshest fish and meat that is free from antibiotics and preservatives to the next billion.”

The report also revealed that Christmas saw the highest orders for meat, fish and seafood, while the lowest orders were recorded during the month of February.

According to the report, Green Mussel, a shellfish native to New Zealand but adopted by Indians, was the fastest to fly off the shelves soon after being launched on the platform.

Some of the most popular meat cuts favoured by different cities included fish/chicken/mutton curry cut followed by chicken breast fillet and chicken cube. But there was a surprising change in the items favoured by the city. Where Delhi showed special love for Chicken Drumsticks than anything else, Kerala’s most ordered fish was Basa/Pangas. Chennai relished and favoured Chicken Gizzard more than any city while Bangalore reflected its fondness for Tangy Chicken Ghee Roast among marinades. Eggs were the most popular items from the list of new releases in 2021.
