Africa’s Big 7 (AB7), the continent’s premier food and beverage show, was acquired by dmg events Middle East, Asia and Africa last year. The 15th essay of the show, which has been rebranded, will take place at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, between June 25 and 27, 2017.
It will be co-located with SAITEX 2017, Africa’s largest product sourcing event, and the Hotel Show Africa 2017, a leading hospitality event brand. For the last 14 years, distributors have been visiting AB7 to source new ingredients, finished products and processing, manufacturing, packaging and logistics solutions.
Explaining the decision to rebrand and refocus the event, Christine Davidson, Africa vice-president, dmg events Middle East, Asia and Africa, said, “AB7 has been the meeting place for the industry for many years, and therefore provides a solid foundation for us, as the new owners, to take the event forward working with the industry as we go.”
“Requirements are changing and the 2017 edition will reflect that - from a new focus on specialist ingredients, flavours and food trends to the latest production and technology-driven processes,” she added.
“This year’s show will be brought into line with buyers’ needs, offering essential information, live demonstrations and discussion with a bit of inspiration too. The rebranding and repositioning will be reflected in everything we do in terms of content, visitor and exhibitor engagement, show collateral and the website,” Davidson said.
She added, “There is no better place than South Africa for the upcoming edition of AB7, it being the largest and most sophisticated food and drink sectors on the continent. It is ideal for exhibitors looking for expansion or a route to the market and will be a great show to meet new clients and secure new business.”
AB7 offers suppliers a direct route to buyers and distributors from 25 African nations, and attracts exhibitors from across the globe. For exhibitors, the event offers an efficient solutions to meeting food and beverage professionals to drive growth.
