The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is currently anchoring a major focus on national food security and modernization at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025, organized by ITPO at Bharat Mandapam. The exclusive FCI Pavilion, themed around the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, is showcasing the nation’s transition toward a resilient, quality-driven, and citizen-centric food management system, reflecting the guiding spirit of farmers.
Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & New and Renewable Energy,Pralhad Joshi, visited the exhibit recently and lauded the FCI’s efforts. The Minister specifically appreciated the initiatives promoting the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS)—both small and bulk—which is crucial for maintaining market availability and stabilizing the prices of essential commodities like wheat and rice. His visit underscored the corporation’s commitment to transparency, efficient food distribution, and national food security for the common public.
The Pavilion’s core exhibit meticulously traces India's grain journey, moving from age-old storage methods to cutting-edge, scientific solutions, including the adoption of technologically advanced storage infrastructure such as SILOs. Through informative displays, live demonstrations, and engaging audio-visual presentations, the FCI is showcasing its ongoing modernization of warehouses, digital initiatives for supply-chain efficiency, sustainability measures, and farmer-centric support systems. The display is designed to empower visitors to experience first-hand the progress made in India’s food sector.
A major draw for visitors is a special initiative featuring the retail sale of FCI rice sourced from six different states—Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. This historic gathering of diverse state rice varieties on one platform, available affordably at prices like Rs 28.90 and Rs 30.90 per kg, has been met with enthusiasm. This initiative symbolizes the FCI's dual pledge: to ensure accessible and quality foodgrains for all consumers while promoting inter-state diversity and the vision of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat' (One India, Great India). In just four days, approximately 1000 Kgs of this rice have been purchased by fair attendees, reinforcing the message of 'Vocal for Local.' Through this comprehensive and forward-looking display, the FCI is reinforcing its dedication to strengthen the country's Food Security Architecture and deliver quality foodgrains to every household.
