Fat Tiger opens first outlet at South City Mall, Kolkata; 25 outlets by ‘21

Fat Tiger India, a brand based out of Delhi, recently opened its first outlet at South City Mall, Kolkata. The company is looking to expand to 25 outlets by end of 2021 and 50 by 2022. It has multiple models starting from restaurant to a kiosk/cart to a food court model.
Devesh Sonthalia is the master franchisee of the brand in east. The brand is founded by Sohrab Sitaram who is the founder of Keventers, the milkshake brand. Sahil Arya, the India franchise for Millies Cookies, and Sahaj Chopra from Yash Raj Films (brother of Parineeti Chopra), are also associated with it.
Sonthalia informs, “We are serving mainly teas, momos and meals. Our teas are very unique called Cheezo's - iced tea served with cheese on top. We have bubble teas which are made with boba pearl, absolutely unique. In momos, apart from regular momos, we have variety of offerings like whole wheat momos, Italian momos, Kurkure momos. We are also serving Baozi's, Shogo Momo's and Xialong Bao (Soupy Momo's).”
He adds, “We have bowl meals where one can choose from a staple (rice/noodles) and sides. All our products are served in disposable packaging and our packaging are very classy and unique in nature (Keventers famous for their glass bottles). We follow the best level of safety & hygiene be it in the form of temperature checks to processing everything in RO water and zero usage of MSG.”
According to him, the company is also having a franchise model wherein it is offering franchisees after reviewing profiles and ensuring likeminded view.
Sonthalia is also franchise partner with Subway India and owns and operates multiple outlets of the brand. He is a part of the national marketing team of the brand. Further, he runs a financial advisory company, which helps people in managing finances, wealth planning and creation with the help of mutual funds and insurances. He is also into insuring various international food chains for their restaurants - Royal China, Chilies, Auntie Annes, Cinnabon, Krispy Kreme to name a few.
