Crown Food Europe launches metal closure tech featuring PVC-free compound

Crown Food Europe, a business unit of Crown Holdings Inc, has launched metal closure technology featuring a PVC-free compound to meet the demand for more environmentally-friendly packaging from European food and beverage brands.
Produced at Crown’s facility in Aprilia, Italy, the new closures are available in Ø53 and Ø63 formats and are suitable for a wide range of pasteurised and sterilised products such as sauces or cooked vegetables.
Integrating the new closure is simple and straightforward since no changes need to be made to existing manufacturing lines.
Food and beverage manufacturers can enhance the look and feel of the closures, and tailor designs to complement a brand’s image, by leveraging Crown’s portfolio of external print finishes. Options include spot gloss, gloss, metallic, matte and embossing.
The infinite recyclability of metal means that food and beverage manufacturers can enhance their sustainability credentials by adopting the new closures.
Since the material can be used again and again with no degradation in quality or performance, far less virgin material is needed to feed demand, creating what is called a circular economy.
