Chef's Basket, owned by Fizzy Foodlabs Pvt. Ltd, is foraying into the market with its new category of fresh dips, a range of fresh Hummus, Salsa and Relish.

The brainchild of three IITians Nipun Katyal, Varun Jhawar and Manish Thirtani, the company was founded in the year 2012 and gained popularity over the years by offering convenience food through pasta and noodle kits.

Explaining about the launch, Varun Jhawar, founder, Fizzy Foodlabs Pvt. Ltd, said, “The fresh category will be making its initial entry into the Mumbai market, and will be followed by an expansion into other cities with an aim to grow at 100 per cent quarter on quarter including institutional sales. Our core value and focus for this category is of being natural, fresh and preservatives/colour-free. After going through rigorous flavour testing, we promise our consumers will love the new flavour offerings from the fresh category because it tastes as good as homemade recipes!”

Using authentic recipes from the Middle-East and Mediterranean techniques, the company is launching variants of Hummus, Salsa and Relish in Roaster Bellpepper Hummus,  Beetroot Hummus, Garlic Hummus, Kiwi Cucumber Relish, Mango Relish, Pineapple Relish, Nacho Corn Salsa and Taco Bean Salsa. The brand also plans to launch new flavours of Thai Garden Hummus, Basil Pesto Hummus and Chocolate Hummus in the following months.

With emphasis on taste, consistency and texture, the fresh products have been developed with an extensive 16 months of R&D. Critical care has been taken from the initial steps such as selection of fruits and vegetables and followed by testing conducted by sourcing experts and food technologists. A unique packaging technique from Italy known as Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) has been used where the products being produced and packed are modified to reduce the microbial activity by multiple times, thus increasing the shelf life of the product naturally. The fresh category also uses barrier packaging from the US to support the MAP technology in order to achieve  the required shelf life.

The company is the first in India to launch this category. The dips are packaged in two portions of 80 gm and 200 gm, the fresh category will be made available soon.
