Chanda to lead teams at Indore Marriott Hotel’s 5 restaurants, banquets

FnbNews Somrup Chanda, director of food and beverage, Indore Marriott Hotel, the largest five-star property in Madhya Pradesh, will now be leading the team of 54 Praangan, an open-air Indian restaurant, and Diamante, a high energy bar lounge, along with other restaurants, such as Indore Kitchen, One Asia, Indore Baking Company and banquets.

In his current role, he will be overseeing the managements, financial functions and banquet operations of all five restaurants, including event planning and in-house catering.

Chanda took over this role at Indore Marriott Hotel on August 1, 2017, and was actively involved in pre-opening of the hotel. He has put his leadership skills into action to train and lead his team.

His 15 years of experience in providing the best service to guests and managing his team, has given the hotel an encouragement to introduce some of their new portfolios.

Chanda’s career began as a an associate at Grand Hyatt Mumbai. He brings along with him an experience of luxury brands like Park Hyatt (Hyderabad), Hyatt Regency (Pune), Sheraton Grand Bangalore at Brigade Gateway (Bengaluru).

He has received exposure in having a holistic approach towards food and beverage management in the restaurants and during events.

Congratulating Chanda on his accomplishment, Devesh Rawat, general manager, Indore Marriott Hotel, said, “We wish Chanda with much more success and recognition. He has been an encouragement for his team members in bringing the best abilities in place and delivering the most successful results.”

Chanda holds an educational background of B.Sc. in Hotel and Hospitality Administration and MBA (distance course) on Marketing and Analytics.

Over the years, he has received various certifications, including WSET certification, and awards, including Manager of the Year at Sheraton Grand Bangalore; Best Italian Restaurant 2016 for Bene at Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway and Best MICE Hotel 2010 for Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.
