A partnership between the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), the Brazilian Embassy in Santiago (CHI) and the Brazilian Association of Dairy Products (Viva Lácteos) made it possible for Brazilian coffees to be present at Espacio Food & Service Chile 2022, the most important food fair in the neighbouring country, which took place from September 27 to 29 in the Chilean capital. As part of the sectorial project "Brazil. The Coffee Nation", developed by BSCA and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), the country's participation took place in a structure comprising a stand and a coffee shop at the event, where businesspeople made 30 business contacts, all with new clients, which generated US$1.1 million in face-to-face business and the prospect of an additional US$2.2 million over the next 12 months. "This was a significant result and shows that gastronomy is increasingly using specialty coffees in the recipes of renowned chefs. This is a trend that has been expanding the market for specialty coffees from Brazil, considering the diversity of sensorial profiles and aromas that the country offers. This was the first time BSCA took members to Chile's main food fair with this focus. The action will certainly help grow Chilean interest in Brazilian coffees, since the feedback received during the fair was very positive," said Vinicius Estrela, executive director of the entity. Brazil. The Coffee Nation The sectorial project "Brazil. The Coffee Nation" was developed by BSCA and ApexBrasil, focused on the commercial promotion of the national product in the foreign market. The objective is to reinforce the image of Brazilian beans worldwide and to position the country as a high quality supplier, using state-of-the-art technology resulting from researches carried out. The current project has as target markets: i) South Africa, Australia, China, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Spain, United States, France, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Russia and Taiwan for specialty raw coffees; and ii) Canada, Chile, China and the United States for the products of the roasting and grinding industry.
