Bayer launches Supradyn Mom’s & Supradyn Naturals Calcium+

Bayer’s Consumer Health Division has announced its strategic entry into the prenatal nutrition segment with the launch of Supradyn Mom’s and Supradyn Naturals Calcium+, under its multivitamin brand Supradyn. This comprehensive range is designed to address the critical nutritional deficiencies faced by women in India during preconception, pregnancy, and lactation.
India faces a severe public health issue with widespread nutritional deficiencies among women. Nearly 60% are anaemic and over 70% suffer from calcium deficiency, a critical issue that directly impacts maternal and child health. The economic impact is equally staggering, with IDA (iron deficiency anaemia) contributing to losses of up to 1.18% of India's GDP.
The nutritional demands during pregnancy increase manifolds, with iron requirements rising from 4-6 mg/day in early pregnancy to 10 mg/day during the final weeks. Calcium needs also nearly double to support foetal bone growth and prevent complications like preeclampsia, low birth weight, and maternal bone loss.
With India welcoming 23 million newborns annually, the scale of this nutritional crisis is unprecedented. Deficiencies during pregnancy can lead to long-term consequences, including undernourished mothers, stunted children, and a perpetuation of the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition.
