AWL Agri Business, as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being, has adopted and revamped a public park located opposite ICB Flora Apartment in Gota, Ahmedabad. The initiative has been undertaken in collaboration with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), which has entrusted the park to AWL for its maintenance and upkeep for a period of five years. As part of the initiative, 1,100 kg of plastic from Fortune packaging has been recycled and transformed into 43 benches for the park.
The senior leaders from AWL Agri Business, along with AMC officials and local corporators conducted a ‘Green Walk’ by taking a detailed tour of the park. As part of the initiative, the dignitaries also planted trees and saplings were also distributed to visitors to encourage greater participation in building greener and more sustainable communities.
Speaking on the initiative, Shrikant Kanhere, MD and CEO, AWL Agri Business Ltd., said, “We, at AWL Agri Business, believe that sustainability is not limited to our operations and products. It is also about creating meaningful impact in the communities where we operate. Through the revitalisation and long-term maintenance of this park, we aim to provide residents with a greener, cleaner and more engaging public space. The benches, made using recycled Fortune packaging material, further reflect our commitment to circularity and responsible resource utilisation.”
Spread across 19,000 square metres, the park has been developed as a vibrant recreational space for residents and visitors. It features lush green landscaping, a variety of shrubs and trees, a children’s play area, a jogging track, gazebos and drinking water facilities, while also contributing to local biodiversity.
A key highlight of the initiative is AWL’s focus on responsible resource utilisation. The park features eco-friendly benches made from recycled Fortune packaging material, giving used packaging a second life and demonstrating how circularity can be integrated into everyday community spaces.
The initiative reflects AWL Agri Business’s broader commitment to creating positive environmental and social impact through its CSR efforts. By combining green spaces, community infrastructure and circularity, the company aims to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable urban environment in Ahmedabad.
