Atlas Copco has launched the ZGH 100–200 VSD+, an oil-free rotary screw booster designed for PET blow-moulding applications, at Drinktec India 2026. The industry-first solution extends rotary screw technology to high-pressure air applications of up to 30 barg, offering beverage manufacturers an alternative to conventional piston booster systems.
With India's beverage industry witnessing continued growth, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on production efficiency, product quality, water conservation and sustainability. Compressed air systems are critical to several operations, including PET bottle manufacturing, packaging, pneumatic conveying, nitrogen generation and wastewater treatment. Changing bottle designs and advancements in blow-moulding technology have also lowered operating pressure requirements on several PET production lines, creating opportunities for rotary screw technology in applications traditionally served by piston boosters.
The ZGH 100–200 VSD+ boosts clean, dry air from 10 barg to 30 barg at the point of use. Conventionally, PET manufacturers depend on centralised high-pressure compression systems, with piston boosters installed in dedicated compressor rooms and compressed air distributed through extensive piping networks. The new booster enables decentralised high-pressure compression, allowing installation closer to blow-moulding machines while retaining the existing medium-pressure compressor infrastructure. This configuration can help minimise pressure losses, simplify plant layouts and release valuable production space.
Commenting on the launch, Bhavin Pandya, General Manager, Compressor Technique Customer Center, Atlas Copco India, said the company aims to provide the right compressor technology for each application. He added that the ZGH 100–200 VSD+ extends the benefits of rotary screw technology to PET blow-moulding applications requiring pressures of up to 30 bar. Its decentralised configuration offers manufacturers greater flexibility in plant design while helping simplify operations and optimise compressed air systems.
At Drinktec India 2026, Atlas Copco also showcased solutions for beverage manufacturing, including CO2 recovery and compression systems, on-site nitrogen generation and boosting solutions, and oil-free compressed air technologies. Its portfolio further includes blower solutions for applications such as pneumatic conveying and wastewater treatment.
Through its range of compressed air and utility solutions, Atlas Copco aims to support the beverage industry's evolving requirements for operational efficiency, reliability and sustainable manufacturing.
