Anton Paar India hosted the first day of NEXUS 2026 at Navi Mumbai, bringing together experts, scientists, researchers and industry professionals from the pharmaceutical and food sectors to discuss the role of advanced analytical technologies in product development, quality, regulatory compliance and manufacturing. Held under the theme “Industry Insights. Technology. Experience.”, the two-day industry forum combines expert-led technical sessions with live demonstrations of analytical and measurement technologies.

Nitin Prabhakar, managing director, Anton Paar India, said, “NEXUS is designed to take analytical science beyond theoretical discussions and connect it directly with the challenges faced by industry. The first day demonstrated the value of bringing pharmaceutical and food experts together with application specialists and live technologies on one platform.”

The pharmaceutical sessions covered drug development, formulation, analytical research and regulated laboratory environments. Dr Benedikt Schrode, global product manager – X-ray Diffraction, Anton Paar GmbH, discussed the use of X-ray diffraction to understand APIs and pharmaceutical materials.

Dr Vaibhav Dubey, senior general manager, Sun Pharma, highlighted the importance of understanding particles, interfaces and stability in next-generation drug delivery systems. Dr Amit Gosar, vice president – Analytical Research, Indoco Remedies, discussed the evolving regulatory environment, including trace-level impurities, nitrosamines, NDSRIs, elemental impurities and advanced solid-state characterisation.

The programme also examined the role of data integrity and digitalisation in strengthening laboratory processes. Jörg Bämpfer, global product manager, Anton Paar GmbH, shared insights into traceability, qualification, digital data management and integrated laboratory workflows.

The food-focused sessions addressed the relationship between raw materials, processing behaviour, structure and finished-product quality. Prof. Dr Narpinder Singh, vice chancellor, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), discussed rheological characterisation and extrusion technology, while Dr Suresh Sakhare, scientist G, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, examined flour, dough and starch behaviour and their relevance to food product development.

According to Prabhakar, food science is increasingly focusing on understanding the transition from raw materials to consumer experience. He noted that rheology, starch behaviour, dough characteristics and processing conditions can influence product consistency and quality.

Dr Banu Sezer also linked measurements such as particle size, viscosity, rheology, texture and crystallisation with practical considerations including processing, stability and consumer acceptance.

A key highlight of the first day was the NEXUS Technology Expo, which featured live demonstrations of Anton Paar’s analytical and measurement technologies. Participants interacted with application specialists across areas including rheology and viscometry, density and concentration, particle characterisation, surface and material characterisation, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, X-ray analysis, microwave sample preparation, true density, flash point and petroleum testing, process measurement and laboratory automation.

The first day concluded with discussions on integrating complementary analytical techniques into measurement workflows. The second day of NEXUS 2026, being held on October 8, will continue to bring together industry perspectives and analytical technologies, with a focus on helping businesses understand materials, optimise processes and support technology-driven decision-making.
