Amatra Hotels and Resorts, a Gurugram-based luxury hospitality brand, has launched two properties in Haridwar and Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. While the Mussoorie property is called Amatra Dunsvirk Court, the one in Haridwar is Amatra by the Ganges.
The new entrant in the luxury hospitality segment is also looking to have 3,000 rooms and inventory of over 45 hotels in the next three years across strategic locations in India.
In 2019, it plans to add five hotels to increase its total tally to seven hotels.
Amatra Hotels India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amatra Group Holdings SDN BHD, Malaysia, and is actively looking for plush resorts that match the company’s vision and standards in Indonesia, Thailand and India.
Funding for its expansion plans will be through internal accruals. It has already raised $3 million and has the commitment of $10 million from the investor group for expansion.
“We are launching these two properties in India with a clear focus to provide unmatched and distinct luxury in India, which is affordable for the masses. As we create a different league of identity for us in luxury hospitality, travellers will witness many firsts in this segment. We are also looking to acquire properties in other regions across India, and will launch a few more properties this year,” said Sabry Salahudeen, chief growth officer, Amatra Hotels.
The resort chain offers value for money offerings in the leisure category with handpicked properties in key destinations across the leisure landscape of India.
In India, the company is looking to acquire exemplary properties in Goa, Rajasthan, Kerala, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and few other leisure locations across the country.
Situated at the highest point in Mussoorie, Amatra Dunsvirk Court provides a breathtaking 360° view of the Himalayas.
The hotel, whose history spans over two centuries and dates back to 1802, was commissioned by Lord Dunsvirk and Lord Guthrie and used as their private lodge during the British Raj.
It was then bought by the Maharaja of Baroda and was used as the family’s summer retreat home. The summer home was later converted into a hotel in 1989 and named after its first owner.
At 7,200ft above the sea level, Amatra Dunsvirk Court is the highest located resort in Mussoorie and boasts of 360-degree panoramic Himalayan views. It has tastefully-designed 40 rooms that are replete with modern facilities and offer unmatched services, lavish amenities, and rejuvenating environment.
Amatra by the Ganges, the only high-end resort by the bank of the majestic Ganges located in Haridwar near Rajaji National Park is one of the few properties in Uttarakhand, which features a helipad. The property is well renowned in the region as the go-to destination for best-in-class luxury stays with gourmet dining options for its discernible patrons.
Both the properties are an ideal location for destination weddings, especially bespoke luxury weddings, honeymoons, exclusive parties, high-level conferences and film shoots. They are just four to six hours away by road from the National Capital Region (NCR).
Amatra operates on an asset-light model and leverages hybrid strategies like management contracts, distressed buyouts among others to acquire hospitality assets. It is also looking to acquire assets that are up for sale across major cities in India and are aligned with their vision of providing experiences par excellence for the modern, bold and forward-looking generation.
The Indian luxury hospitality sector has been growing rapidly over the last few years, as affluent Indians and international tourists are now demanding top-of-the-line luxury experiences.
