Workshop on packaging, labelling and allergens management on August 30

In the new food safety regimen, it has become imperative to keep track of emerging and dynamic requirements of packaging and labelling as laid down by FSSAI. These requirements are different for various food products and need precise interpretation during implementation. Also there are other factors such as marketing and allergen management, which need to be looked at. It is to address such concerns that UKSolutions is organising its 5th Knowledge Series workshop - Understanding of Requirements of Food Packaging, Labelling, Claims, & Advertisement as per FSSAI Regulations and Allergens Management, at a hotel in Gurgaon on August 30, 2013.

The workshop would be conducted by Udai K Saxena, a professional with 30 years of techno-commercial experience. He holds a master in food technology from CFTRI and runs a training and system consultancy.
 
According to a press release, the programme is designed largely to provide clarity on basic issues, which are misunderstood by various stakeholders so that better understanding can be brought about.
The release outlined the advantages thus: Knowledge of practical understanding of packaging and labelling regulations; Knowledge of FSSAI regulations on claims and advertising; First-hand knowledge on allergens management; and Fulfilment of requirements of regulatory bodies pertaining to the above topics in view of the regulations and advisories issued thereafter.

    CEOs, COOs, heads of operations and functionaries responsible for Labelling and packaging design and approvals; Quality assurance & R&D; Production, purchase, receipts, sales and marketing; Distribution and logistics; Legal, publicity and advertisement; and Consumer cell; and those who are at senior and middle level, who are involved / or having stake in decision-making will be among the participants.

Contents: Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labelling) Regulations 2011 Original Text; Amendments and advisories – up-to-date; Special labelling provisions for various products; Claim and advertising - advisories issued by FSSAI; Claim validations and substantiation; and Prohibitory claims and phrases. Allergens management - o Concept of food allergy; o Types of food allergens; o Allergens management; o Allergens decision tree to decide on labelling issues; and o International regulations on allergens declaration.
