VIT-TBI to provide incubation support to food start-up cos from July 2

fiogf49gjkf0d The Vellore Institute of Technology University’s (VIT) Technology Business Incubator (VIT-TBI), a joint initiative between VIT University and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, is aimed at providing incubation support to start-up ventures. It would commence on July 2, 2014 and conclude on August 8, 2014. The last date for application to the programme is June 25, 2014.
Participation is free, and those eligible to participate include graduates or diploma-holders in engineering or science, with interest in food processing technologies and starting venture in the food domain. It periodically organises capacity-building and training activities to address the needs of early-stage entrepreneurs and individuals planning to start a business venture.
According to Dr G Viswanathan, founder and chancellor, VIT University, the objective of this entrepreneurship development programme in food processing technology is to expose the participants to the key steps in start-up venturing process and equip them with adequate knowledge to initiate a venture in the food and agro-processing sector.
It aims to equip them with requisite skills, knowledge and competencies to convert their startup idea into a viable business entity. This six-week non-residential training programme will cover the essentials of entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, human resources, business modelling and business planning in the business module.
The technology module would provide ample exposure to various facets of food processing techniques, quality control, certification processes, hospitality industry and packaging, and would include some industry visits. The programme will also equip the participants to write and present a project report. The qualifying projects would be considered for business incubation and seed funding at the VIT-TBI.
Insights pertaining to food processing technologies would be provided by experts from the industry and government agencies. The sessions on entrepreneurship and basic business inputs would be provided by resource persons from the VIT Business School, VIT-TBI, entrepreneurs and experts from the industry.
