US-based Brinker International, recognised as world's most admired foodservice company by Fortune magazine, has launched its 200th restaurant outside the US in Bangalore. According to the company, the launch of "Chili's Grill & Bar" is a part of global expansion as Brinker International has decided to open 500 restaurants outside the US by 2014.

J Reale, president of global business development, Brinker International, said, "Our plan is aggressive, about 50 restaurants a year, and we see a world of opportunity out there for us. Our sales are strong internationally and our competitive advantage is a portfolio of brands our franchisees can grow with including Chili's, Maggiano's, and On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina." Currently, the company operates and franchises over 28 countries across the world. According to the company statement, Chili's restaurant in India was developed by Jawad Business Group. The restaurant is part of 15 restaurants in 5-year agreement that will expand Brinker's presence in the country.

"This expansion of our partnership into India is ideal because it underscores the desire to grow with not just one but all three Brinker brands," Reale added. The menu at the Bangalore Chili's was developed specifically for the region. Chili's global chefs researched Indian ingredients, local cuisine preferences and competitive menus to craft a menu that comprises the essence of Chili's American-Southwest cuisine with a touch of familiar fare for the local consumer. More than 80% of the menu offerings can be prepared vegetarian. "Chili's-Bangalore will offer guests a unique dining experience with bold kicked up flavours. From the Tandoori Chicken Sandwich to the Paneer Bites to the Bombay Burger, guests will find local flavours they enjoy infused with the brand's south-western heritage."
