Switzerland's Frutarom & Germany's Aquanova to market NovaSol Curcumin

fiogf49gjkf0d Switzerland's Frutarom Ltd's health business unit joined forces with Aquanova AG, the German pharmaceutical good manufacturing practice (GMP) manufacturer of superior ingredient formulae, to market NovaSol Curcumin, a solubilised, highly bio-available form of curcumin for the dietary supplement and food manufacturing industries. Frutarom Health would work in collaboration with Molecular Health Technologies, its current sales and marketing agent in the United States and Canadian markets.
 Curcumin, the yellow pigment and primary nutraceutical compound found in turmeric, is used as a colouring agent by the food industry and as an active phytochemical in nutraceuticals. Curcumin has a broad, scientifically well-documented spectrum of health benefits, due to its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. There is increasing awareness among consumers regarding the benefits of this ingredient backed by scientific data. The market for curcumin products is expanding rapidly.
Curcumin’s traditional low bio-availability had been a major challenge that led to the use of inconveniently high dosages, especially in its powder form. These amounts did not match the amount of curcumin used in third-party clinical trials to achieve the desired health benefits. NovaSol curcumin was developed as part of a major European research project funded by the German federal ministry of education and research. The proprietary NovaSOL Curcumin technology offers a liquid, crystal-clear, yellow solution for use across a wide variety of applications.
As a result, the curcumin becomes fully water-soluble, a quality that affects superior bio-availability. A human clinical trial, whose results would be published later this year, demonstrated an impressive absorption rate and bio-availability, in comparison with both standard curcumin extracts and other improved turmeric formulae. “The demand for anti-inflammatory ingredients, and the growing amount of scientific evidence on the health benefits of curcumin, will continue to drive the sales of turmeric preparations,” averred Wouter Haazen, product manager, Frutarom Health Business Unit.
