Swensen’s stirs Chocolate Earthquake sundae version made of eight scoops

Swensen’s ice cream shop, part of the Minor Food Group, USA, which floated the Indian franchisee model in partnership with Devyani International Ltd, has launched the biggest ever sundae in the country.
Known as the Chocolate Earthquake (CEQ), the sundae is made of eight specialty scoops of creamy chocolate ice cream from Swensen’s chocolate range, surrounded by swirls of whipped cream laced with chocolate sauce, brownies, fudge, almonds and chocolate crusted cherries.
The company, which has 7 outlets - all located in Bangalore - is now offering the CEQ along with its versions Coit Tower, Gold Rush, Sticky Chewy Choc Fantasy and Hot Fudge Bonanza split. “These are works of art. Further, the ice cream represents the king size treats of yesteryears. It is priced at Rs 499,” said Parwit Amtim, manager, international franchisee operations, Swensen’s.
CEQ is part of the signature Earthquake series from the company. The concept was inspired around the 1906 San Francisco earthquake from where the brand originates. “It has received rave reviews in the markets of the West,” he added.
Swensen’s entered India in June 2010 and launched its first outlet in the country at Mantri Mall, Malleswaram in Bangalore. The product has established new benchmarks in ice cream retailing. While most ice cream brands in India are primarily focussed on serving scoops in a take-away format, Swensen’s provides a unique, dine-in experience where customers indulge in luxury ice cream sundaes under the artful luminosity of the tiffany lamps, Western classic interiors, specifically crafted glassware and cheerful staff which serves with a smile. In addition to the wide selection of ice cream creations are coffee and a separate menu designed especially for kids.
The ice cream sundaes are enjoyed all over the world including USA, Asia, the Middle-East and South America.
