Morarka Organic Foods makes retail debut with Down-to-Earth

Morarka Organic Foods, suppliers and exporters of organic foods, has entered the organised the retail business with the launch of its first outlet in Mumbai. Branded as Down-to-Earth, the retail outlet sells over 200 organic food and textile products, according to Mukesh Gupta, director (operations), Morarka Organic Foods. The company would open more outlets in Mumbai, based on customer response, Gupta told newsmen at the launch of the retail store. The store is located at Commerce building, next to AC market at Tardeo, a modern and trendy business district of the metro. Earlier, Morarka Organic served a banquet of chemical-free organic food to the elites of Mumbai.
Morarka Organic, an offshoot of Morarka Foundation set up by Kamal Morarka, a leading industrialist and philanthropist, currently sells over Rs 40 crore worth organic products annually and its turnover is expected to go up this year with the launch of its retail venture.
A number of products in Down-to-Earth store are priced at a 15% discount compared to open market price.
The company, in this line of business for over five years, has dedicated farmers engaged in organic farming. The company trains farmers and NGOs on organic farming and the products are certified by independent certification agencies.
Beginning at a small town in Rajasthan, Morarka Organic today has access over 70,000 certified organic farmers. Farming today is synonymous with fertilizers and pesticides. Organic farming is a sincere attempt at reversing this practice. By using traditional farming methods that sustain the nutritive value of food without subjecting the crop to chemical warfare. Today organic farming is replacing conventional farming in most developed countries. According to Gupta, Down-to-Earth is India's answer to the global organic revolution. An organic brand that has been successfully awakening farmers across the length and breadth of the country.
