All large companies should get testing done internally and externally from NABL-accredited labs and publish those reports in public forums to be seen by consumers as well as FSSAI. This will create awareness among consumers to choose quality food products for consumption, according to Ashwin Bhadri, CEO, Equinox Labs.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Bhadri stressed on external testing to be done at NABL- accredited labs. The external laboratory reports are more authentic and carry weightage. Bhadri believes, “Small companies who pay no attention to these norms must start complying with the law, by having nutritional labels and shelf life on their products. Small manufacturers must also take into consideration basic FSSAI labelling norms and regulations.”

FSSAI has been emphasising on having regular audits and test reports from external as well as internal sources.

Bhadri has trained and consulted over 15,000 people and 500 companies on topics such as food safety compliance and employee health & safety. He has authored two books - 13 Steps to Protect Yourself from the Consumer and How to Face a FSSAI / FDA Audit.

Equinox Labs is an NABL-accredited and ISO 9001:2000-certified lab focussing on food testing and FSSAI compliance and has helped over 10,000 companies to comply with the food safety law.
