Knock Out, SabMiller India’s beer brand, wins Product of the Year 2014

Knock Out, SABMiller India Ltd’s beer brand, won the Product of the Year award in the alcohol and beer category for 2014, for the innovative packaging of its strong beer. It is available in PET bottles.

Product of the Year has been operating across 39 different countries for the last 25 years. It is a global consumer recognition standard that rewards the best innovations in products.

An independent nationwide face-to-face consumer survey was conducted by The Nielsen Company. It rolled out across 18,000 respondents in 24 markets.

The survey was conducted across mega-metros, mini-metros and towns with population ranging between five and ten lakh.

The respondents were grouped into sections A, B,C, D and E based on their age group (from the legal drinking age to 40).

Commenting on the recognition, Deepak Nath, vice-president, marketing, core brands, SABMiller India, said, “Product innovation is in the DNA of our brand Knock Out.”

“It is our constant endeavour to offer a refreshing experience to our consumers through unique product propositions,” he added.

“We are overwhelmed by the response Knock Out has received from consumers across the country, and it is an honour to be recognised as the Product of the Year 2014,” Nath added.

Knock Out was the first brand in India to introduce PET bottles in the beer category, wherein beer was traditionally available only in glass bottles and cans.

The refreshing and innovative Knock Out PET bottles are easily portable, resealable and non-breakable, and retain the freshness and fizz of the beer.

This new packaging enables consumers to share those refreshing moments with friends at an equally convenient price.

Apart from PET bottles, Knock Out had also introduced several product and market innovations earlier, such as the introduction of thermo-chromatic labels and the Refreshtival activity.

The combination of innovation, quality and refreshing taste has created the growth story of Knock Out, making it one of the most sought-after beers in the industry.
