fiogf49gjkf0d The ninth essay of International FoodTec India, organised by Koelnmesse YA Tradefair Pvt Ltd (the Indian subsidiary of Germany’s Koelnmesse GmbH), began at Mumbai’s Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) on Friday. Its co-located events are PackEx India, Sweet and SnackTec India and Dairy Universe India.
The three-day show, spread over an area of approximately 20,000sq m, has brought together over 460 exhibitors, 48 per cent of whom are from overseas. They would showcase processing methods, packaging ideas and technologies. The visitor profile comprises representatives of the food processing and packaging sectors.
It was inaugurated by Arun Patil, chairman, Indian Dairy Association (West Zone); Subhash Mandge, chairman, National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Ltd; Sanjeev Gupta, chairman, Agro and Food Processing Equipment and Technology Providers’ Association of India (AFTPAI); Geoffery Van Leeuwen, consul general of the Netherlands; Denis Steker, vice-president, international, Koelnmesse GmbH; Lars Dithmer, chief operating officer and managing director, Alfa Laval India Ltd, and Erdal Sabri Ergen, consul general of Turkey.
“International FoodTec India 2014 promises to bring world-class innovation and insights in processing and packaging for many sectors, including the food, dairy, snack and beverage sectors,” said Ashwani Pande, managing director, Koelnmesse YA Tradefair Pvt Ltd.
“Our co-location with Dairy Universe India and Sweet and SnackTec India has had a tremendously strong impact on International FoodTec India, making it a must-attend for the dairy and sweet and snack food processors,” he added.
“With this mixture of technologies, International FoodTec India combines convenient and much-needed access to advanced, whole-line solutions. The show offers attendees an exclusive opportunity to cross-pollinate ideas between industries,” Pande said.
Companies from China, Europe, France, Germany, Italy, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands and Turkey would showcase their offerings at the show’s international pavilions.
Steker said, “Koelnmesse is the leading organiser of trade fairs dedicated to the food and related sectors. Trade fairs such as Anuga, the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair and Anuga Food Tec are world leaders.”
“Koelnmesse not only organises food trade fairs in Cologne, but also in further growth markets around the globe - Bangkok, Beijing, Curitiba, New Delhi, Dubai, Istanbul and Mumbai. Each of these have different focusses and contents,” he added.
“These global activities enable us to offer our customers a network of events, which in turn, grant access to different markets, and thus create bases for sustainable and stable international businesses. International FoodTec India is a strong member of this successful trade fair family,” Steker stated.
He said, “Starting in 2015, the trade fair would become an annual event, alternating between Mumbai and New Delhi. This new schedule would cover the need for new technologies in the food and beverage industries of the Indian subcontinent. We are very optimistic that this strategic move would be of great use to exhibitors and visitors alike.”
The exhibition proves to be a great source for knowledge-sharing, with seminars titled ‘Future of Milk-based Nutraceuticals’ and ‘Packaging Innovations in the Pharmaceutical Industry’. While the former was organised by the Indian Dairy Association (West Zone), the latter was organised by India Pharma Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPMMA).
The speakers at the former represented different sectors of the dairy industry, and interacted with visitors and aspiring businessmen. The topics included production of nutraceuticals from milk using modern technologies, the marketing of such products and the availability of equipment for such manufacturing.
