The USP of Danz, a Mumbai-based brand of multi-grain bread launched by Danox Healthcare in April 2011, is that it takes just two hours to deliver bread at the customers' doorsteps. According to Vikram Dangi, co-founder and chief executive officer, Danz Bread, “A loaf of brown bread is made of healthy ingredients.”

He said the SGS (Switzerland)-certified bread – which has a shelf-life is two days from the date of delivery – is made up of premium multi-grain ingredients like whole wheat flour (atta), oats, flaxseeds, soya grit, sunflower seeds, black sesame seeds, wheat bran, broken wheat, refined vegetable oil, sugar, salt, gluten and yeast.

“Danz Bread does not contain either added colours or preservatives. Moreover, it does not contain potassium bromate, which is a harmful food chemical. It is banned in first-world countries, but is unfortunately commonly used by some of the bread manufacturing companies in India,” Dangi informed.

Nutrition
With such ingredients as multi-grain and whole-wheat flour, Danz Bread is rich in vitamins E and B12, magnesium, selenium, iron, zinc and potassim, proteins and fibre. According to Dangi, it is these essential nutrients that make the product stand apart as a nutrition standalone meal and the preferred choice to junk foods.

Distribution
“The company started providing healthy freshly-baked at the doorsteps of the customers. The distributors of the company deliver fresh bread on an everyday basis as per the order, according to the zone or area allotted,” Dangi said.

“Currently we deliver in the South Mumbai neighbourhoods of Peddar Road, Carmichael Road, Altamount Road, Breach Candy, Nepean Sea Road, Warden Road, Hughes Road, Narayan Dabholkar Road, Malabar Hill, Walkeshwar, Tardeo, Saat Rasta, Colaba, Cuff Parade, Marine Drive, Churchgate and Nariman Point,” he added.

Dangi said, “We also cover Sewri, Parel, Lower Parel, Worli, Prabhadevi and Century in Central Mumbai; Bandra, Khar and Santacruz (West) in the western suburbs, and further north, Hiranandani, Powai. Soon, because of the increase in the demand, the company would be starting delivery in Oshiwara, Andheri's Lokhandwala, Juhu, Five Gardens, Hindu Colony, Wadala and Matunga.

Quality
“Special care has been taken to retain the softness of the product as there is high-moisture content. Its heat-sealed packaging ensures hygiene and moisture retention and also advises  all our customers to store the bread in an air-tight container once opened. Also, there is an use of modern baking techniques. The custom-designed baking system retains the softness of each whole-grain even after baking. The other USP of Danz Bread is that the whole seeds in the slice remain soft even after toasting the slice,” Dangi said.

Brown bread versus white bread
It is always recommended by nutritionists to opt for brown bread and not white bread, as it is made from maida.

“Brown bread, which is made from whole-grain flour, has much more fibre that refined flour. More fibre helps you stay healthy and aids in proper elimination of waste,” Dangi said.

“Also, whole grain is lower on the glycaemic index than refined flour (maida). That makes it it slower to digest and absorb, thus making it a better choice for diabetics and people interested in weight loss,” he said.
