fiogf49gjkf0d Oriental Cuisine, the Chennai-based bakery chain that owns such as French Loaf and Wangs Kitchen, is planning to expand by opening more outlets in the country. It is one of India’s largest company-owned bakery chains, with 55-plus outlets currently operational.
Narendra Malhotra, its chief executive officer, said, “We expanded last year, and have the same expansion plans this year as well. The two brands would be expanded. The franchise route is the only strategic change we have made recently.”
“We are now opening our other brands (China Town and Zara Tapas Bar) for franchising too,” he added. Recently, the brand started capitalising on the online space, taking its business to the next level through e-commerce.
In May 1994, Oriental Cuisines Pvt Ltd (OCPL) was founded by professor, restaurateur and entrepreneur M Mahadevan under the name Chaitanya Gourmet Splendour Pvt Ltd. It was renamed to OCPL in March 1997.
