Achal Industries, a locally known cashew processing unit, has opened a cashew processing unit - Phalguni Urwa Speciality - and a new cashew showroom in Urwa, Mangalore recently.
Encouraged by good response from customers, an exclusive retail outlet was established in the name of Phalguni Cashew Centre in May 1992. It was located in the heart of the city giving different variants of cashews to its customers.
"This is an exclusive retail outlet, set up with a steady rise in demand for cashews as Mangalore being the hub for tourists every year," Giridhar Prabhu, director, proprietor, Achal Cashews, Mangalore, told FnB news over the phone.
Prabhu stated that the new showroom had well-equipped techonologies for processing and extensive attractive packages for which the cashews were sealed in vaccumised packs to ensure high product quality.
He added that the showroom consisted of different variants of cashew but also
spices like cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, pepper and dry fruit such as almonds, apricots and figs.
Reacting to a question on climate change, Prabhu confirmed that cashews have remained unaffected by climate change this year as compared to last year, with cashew kernel
witnessing a 35-40 per cent higher prices.
