The Rs 4,000-crore Coimbatore-based Suguna Poultry Farm Limited, one of the leading players in branded egg segments, has redesigned the packaging for its range of premium quality value-added eggs.  The new packaging is designed using a bright yellow label with the brand-name written on a combination of green and red background.

The eggs come in six-egg container boxes and are available at leading supermarkets and company's outlets across the country at a price range varying between Rs 28 and Rs 38 for half-a-dozen eggs.

The poultry major now offers four varieties of value-added speciality eggs. These are  Active, Heart, Pro and Shakti. Each of these are fortified with specific vitamins and nutrients to help maintain a balanced diet for all  age groups and health conditions.

The eggs are enriched with Omega 3 fatty acids, organic selenium, vitamins and minerals that not only provide nutritional value but specific functional benefits to the consumer.

The enrichment is done by giving special natural feed to the hens that are maintained in the company's bio-security-certified farms. The egg absorbs the nutrient properties from the hen's diet, stated Dr Ravindran, director – sales & marketing, Suguna Poulry Farm Limited.

Suguna Active is designed specifically for children, adults, pregnant women, lactating mothers and for those who have an active lifestyle and require additional nutrition. It contains docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), organic selenium and vitamin E.

Suguna Heart is for health conscious people who prefer a low cholesterol egg combined with the benefits of Omega 3 and Vitamin E for longevity and a healthy heart.

Suguna Pro  is a value-added, farm fresh egg that is rich in proteins and vitamins. The high protein in Suguna Pro helps build and repair body tissues.

Suguna Shakti is high on natural carotenoids and pro-Vitamin A and low on calories, helps stay healthy and trim.

"Health conscious customers are always on the lookout for new food brands in the market which will help improve their health. The eggs are developed by Suguna’s in-house R&D, which is recognised by the Government of India’s Department of Science & Industrial Research. We ensure that the eggs are graded, cleaned and stamped with a quality seal and packed in transparent PVC material boxes, using stringent standards. The customer can view the cleanliness of the egg before purchasing. There is a huge market for value-added eggs going by the shift in the consumers mind for preventive healthcare,” said Dr  Ravindran.

The company’s pioneering concept of "Poultry Integration" in the country helped improve the earning capacity of  farmers in rural India. With operations in 11 states across India, it offers a range of poultry products and services. The fully integrated operations cover broiler and layer farming, hatcheries, feed mills, processing plants, vaccines and exports. Suguna markets live broiler chicken, value added eggs and frozen chicken. With the intent to provide consumers with fresh, clean and hygienic packed chicken, Suguna has set up a chain of modern retail outlets. The company exports its products to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai, Oman, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Qatar, and Japan.
