Barry
Callebaut, one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-quality
cocoa and chocolate products, will showcase Bensdorp, its restyled
cocoa range, at the Food Ingredients (Fi) Europe, which is slated to
take place in Frankfurt, Germany between November 19 and 21, 2013.
Another
highlight visitors to the company's booth at the trade fair could
expect is the recently-approved health claim for the cocoa flavanols
that are used to preserve the cocoa and chocolate products of the
Acticoa range. The company has the proprietary right to use this
claim – the industry's first – in all member nations of the
European Union (EU).
Cocoa
flavanols are said to help maintain the elasticity of the blood
vessels, which contributes to the normal blood flow. These are lost
at the fermentation stage of the conventional process of producing
chocolate. Barry Callebaut's researchers found a way to preserve upto
80 per cent of the flavanols in the Acticoa range of chocolate
products.
The
company could prove that the daily intake of 200mg of cocoa flavanols
– provided by either 2.5g Acticoa cocoa powder or 10g Acticoa dark
chocolate – supported a healthy blood circulation. The Cocoart
Collection, a new range of e-number-free cocoa decorations, would
also be showcased at the event.
At
the booth, visitors would be able to witness the company's Cocoa
Horizons projects and the further expansion of the quality partner
programme (QPP) and the latest developments regarding its cocoa
horizons truck, and the nibs range of roasted and broken cocoa
kernels.
