KMF's Nandini irresistible festive choice

ka Milk Federation (KMF) into sweets prepared with milk and ghee is now emerging as a viable and revenue generating stream for the Federation. KMF's Nandini milk products commenced operations with an intention to tap the Rs 125 crore market for milk sweets and instant sweet mix in the country. Nandini Milk Products has around 13 sweets in its basket which include sterilised flavored milk, paneer and khova.

Nandini brand of sweets which has a distinct identity in India as Mysore pak, premium barfi, cashew burfi, and premium badam burfi varieties are much sought after. The key reasons for the demand of the Nandini milk products are the affordable cost, top quality and taste. In fact, the range of sweets are indispensable at major festive occasions.

The Nandini milk peda is a delicious treat for the family and is made of pure milk and stays at room temperature for around a week. Mysore pak made of Bengal gram, Nandini milk and ghee is a mouth-watering specialty from the KMF unit which is relished during all festivities.

Among the other specialties from the Federation stables are Nandini Dharwad Peda, Nandini Rasagula, Nandini Jamun, Nandini Besan Ladoo.

For the badam and burfi sweets, the dry fruit is selected with care. The two products are a food connoisseur's choice. In addition, there is also the Gulab Jamun mix, paneer, Nandini Kunda and Nandini Bite and Khova for preparation for related homemade specialties. Going hand in hand with milk sweets is the Nandini flavoured milk which is recognised as a nutritious and all-season healthy drink available in five flavours of badam, rose, pineapple, pista and natural orange.

Much of the products are manufactured at Nandini Milk Product facility in Bangalore located in the KMF campus which has a dedicated manufacturing plant. Some sweets are produced at one of its 13 milk unions at Belgaum.

The market for milk sweets in India is on an upswing. The White Revolution era saw an escalated interest for a variety of milk products. For several entrepreneurs in the country like Krishna Sweets, Haldirams, KC Das, Anand Sweets, the milk sweets business was a profitable and much depended on the quality and pricing. Other players in similar segment are Amul, and Mother Dairy. Nestle and Britannia which have utilised milk and other confectionaries to introduce products for festive occasions. Going by the demand so far there is no doubt that milk sweets will register robust growth and its demand will be always on the rise, informed sources.

Future of the milk sweets sector is bright. Its demand will always be on the rise in India where sweets are a prime product for festivities and occasions and achievements, stated sources from KMF.
