Confident Group to operate 10 hotels under its Bangalore portfolio by 2014

Bengaluru-based conglomerate Confident Group with operations into six verticals including hospitality, infrastructure, aviation, entertainment, education and health care, plans to operate 10 hotels in Bengaluru during the next five years. The group will launch its fourth property, Confident Aquarii in Bengaluru by 2009 end. Confident Aquarii is a five-star resort, which will have 75 rooms and will mainly target the leisure clientele.
Presently, the group has three hotels operational in Bengaluru, Confident Cascade at Bannerghatta Road, Confident Propus at Langford Road and Confident Iris at Brigade Road. According to Gaffar Kandy, Director of Sales, Confident Group, "We look forward to be the largest hotel and resort chain under a single brand in Bengaluru by 2014. Presently, three hotels are operational in Bengaluru. We plan to set up 10 hotels in the next five years. Lands have been acquired at different locations in Bengaluru to develop hotels, resorts and golf course."
The projects in Bengaluru, which are in the pipeline are Confident Rose Service Apartment at Koramangala, Confident Jasmine at Bidadi, Confident Daisy at Hoskote, Confident Orchid Golf Course at KGF Road, Confident Olive at Hosur Road, Confident Thyme at Koramangala and Confident Daffodil at Sarjapur. Confident Daffodil is a mixed used development whereas for Confident Orchid Golf Course, the group has acquired 300 acres and is currently developing 18 hole golf course. Speaking about the expansion plans, Kandy added, "We would be developing hotels at three, four and five-star categories and, boutique hotels catering to business as well as leisure clientele. In order to cater to the requirements of discerning travellers, it is paramount to develop hotels in different segments which will enable the customer to choose among different options."
Confident Group's other projects in Southern India are Confident Cascade at Maradu (a waterfront resort) and Confident Ivy near Kakkanad in Kochi. The project in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka includes Confident Lily at Yercaud and Confident Magnolia at Coorg respectively. Also, 10 acres has been acquired at Devanahalli to put up a resort project, which is attached to high-end villas.
Furthermore, Kandy said, "Most of our real estate clients are also our hospitality clients. They have seen our services and products and hence have agreed to partner with us for our hospitality services. Confident Group is a zero debt group that means implementing and controlling all operations without any external source of funding."
Speaking on the mode of operations, Kandy stated, "At present, we have not hired any management company but as the group will grow, we might think about this option as well. However, for our spa resorts, we are looking for potential international and national players to outsource the spa."
