HADSA to conduct seminar on Nutritional Intervention - Obesity on Jan 22

The Health Foods and Dietary Supplements Association (HADSA) is organising a full- day seminar on “Nutritional Intervention in Management of Lifestyle Diseases Series 1- Obesity” on Friday, January 22, 2016, at the SciTech Centre, Jogeshwari (West), Mumbai.

The objective of the seminar is to take advantage of the growing awareness on lifestyle diseases in India to highlight some of them and to talk of the vital role nutraceuticals and other interventions have in helping people to make healthy lifestyle choices. The series starts with one of the biggest risk factors in health today: obesity.

The topics to be discussed at the seminar are Emerging need to recognise the reality of obesity - reasons for increasing obesity - Speaker: Dr R B Smarta, hon.secretary/ MD, HADSA/ Interlink Marketing Consultancy; Nutritional intervention to manage the syndrome of obesity - Speaker: Dr Nikhil Kelkar, HADSA/ executive committee, member/director, Hexagon Nutrition and C M Reddy, chief scientific officer, Innovertus Nutrition Technologies; Regulatory aspects of obesity related products, processes & remedies - Speaker: Dr Vaibhav Kulkarni, hon.treasurer/ director, regulatory affairs, HADSA/ Abbott Healthcare Ltd and Dr A Laxmaiah, sr deputy director (scientist F (epidemiology) HoD, division of community studies, National Institute of Nutrition, Indian Council of Medical Research; Ayurvedic perspective of remedial measures - Speakers: Dr Ashok Vaidya, research director, Medical Research Centre, Kasturba Health Society and Dr Rama Vaidya, reproductive endocrinologist & dean, Medical Research Centre, Kasturba Health Society. Other topics include Role of Yoga/exercise in obesity and Market opportunity in India.

The event promises to give visitors knowledge and better understanding of lifestyle diseases. The seminar will also benefit marketing and manufacturers products related to obesity, nutritionists and doctors, corporates, new product developing companies/individuals, and Ayurvedic physicians.
