Made in Punjab bags two accolades at 2014 Food Freak Awards in Gurgaon

fiogf49gjkf0d Made in Punjab, a North Indian fine dining restaurant at Gurgaon’s DLF Cyber Hub, bagged two honours at the 2014 essay of the Food Freak Awards, held in Gurgaon recently. While the jury awarded the eatery the best North Indian restaurant, it won the best debutant award in the popular category.
The ceremony (an initiative of Indianfoodfreak.com [one of the country’s leading food blog and restaurant review website] and SPAG Asia and held at The Westin Gurgaon) featured 22 categories. The popular award-winners were decided on the basis of votes cast. Over 1,61,000 votes were cast.
Dhaba by Claridges (DLF Cyber Hub) won the popular award for the best North Indian eatery, and Iranian cafe Soda Bottle Opener Wala was the jury’s choice for best debutant. Sonica Singh of Healthy Bakers was the jury’s choice for the best home baker in Gurgaon, and Pooja Nabh of Cococraft Chocolates and Desserts was the popular choice.
The jury comprised chefs Kunal Kapur and Sabyasachi Gorai and food critic Anoothi Vishal, among others. Those presenting the honours included Rocky and Mayur (hosts of the television show ‘Highway On My Plate’) and Masterchefs Manjeet Gill and Manish Mehrotra.
Shivani Gupta, managing director, SPAG Asia and co-founder, Food Freak Awards 2014, said, “The inaugural edition has surpassed our expectations. We are geared to take these awards to other cities in India, including New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The 2015 essay would be bigger.”
“One of the key trends that we, at SPAG Asia, have witnessed is that if dining out and ordering in are compared, growth is the latter is more rapid. However, more people are eating out. Biryani is witnessing the fastest growth among the foods that people prefer to order in, followed by kebabs. Pizza is a close third,” she added.
