CLFMA of India, the apex body representing the country’s livestock feed and allied sectors, has elected Sumit Sureka, Managing Director of Shivshakti Agro India Pvt Ltd and Amrit Breeder Farms Pvt Ltd, and Director of Impressico Business Solutions Pvt Ltd, as its chairman for the 2026–2028 term.

Sureka brings over 30 years of experience in the animal feed and poultry industries, with expertise spanning poultry, dairy, aquaculture and piggery feed, poultry breeding, hatcheries, broiler integration, business management and finance. His association with CLFMA spans more than 25 years. He has served as a Managing Committee Member for around 10 years, held various office-bearer positions for over eight years and served as Deputy Chairman for the past six years.

He is also the Vice President of the West Bengal Poultry Federation and an alumnus of London Business School and Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi.

As Chairman, Sureka will lead CLFMA’s engagement with policymakers, industry stakeholders and research institutions, focusing on addressing common industry challenges and supporting the long-term development of the livestock and feed sectors.

A key priority for the 2026–2028 term will be addressing the availability and affordability of maize and soya, which are critical raw materials for the poultry, dairy and aquaculture feed industries. Supply uncertainties and price volatility have placed considerable pressure on the sector. The Association aims to work towards sustainable solutions through collective industry efforts, improved productivity, stronger supply-chain infrastructure and constructive engagement with the government to ensure the availability of these commodities at competitive prices.

Other priorities include promoting the adoption of digital and predictive technologies to improve productivity across the animal feed industry, strengthening knowledge-sharing among members and expanding the Association’s membership base across the country and its various sectors.

The Association will also focus on creating awareness about opportunities in the animal food industry among higher educational institutions, encouraging employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship. Another key initiative will be the development of a dedicated team to formulate and work towards ‘Vision 2040’ for the animal food sector, with the objective of positioning animal-based food as the “Most Economic Protein”.

Commenting on his appointment, Sumit Sureka, Chairman, CLFMA of India, said, “I am honoured to take on this responsibility at CLFMA of India and work alongside stakeholders across the livestock and feed industries. The sector has an important role in supporting India’s nutritional security, farmers’ livelihoods and economic development. Addressing issues such as feed raw material availability, input cost volatility, animal nutrition and production efficiency requires sustained collaboration between industry and policymakers. During my tenure, I look forward to strengthening this engagement, ensuring that our members’ concerns receive due attention and supporting initiatives that advance innovation, competitiveness and responsible growth across the animal agriculture value chain.”

The Association also acknowledged the contribution of Immediate Past Chairman Divya Kumar Gulati, who played an important role in strengthening CLFMA of India's position as a representative voice of the livestock industry. During his tenure, the Association further advanced industry representation, policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement, bringing key sectoral concerns to the attention of relevant stakeholders.

Sureka will be supported by a team of office-bearers representing various segments of the livestock industry. The leadership team will work towards strengthening coordination across the animal agriculture value chain, promoting knowledge-sharing and advocating policies that support quality feed availability, balanced animal nutrition and efficient production systems.

Through these initiatives, CLFMA of India aims to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the livestock feed industry while supporting its contribution to India's nutritional security and rural economy.
