Denmark's Joe & The Juice plans India foray
Thursday, 05 March, 2009, 08 : 00 AM [IST]
Keen to capitalise on India's rapidly growing branded juice segment, Denmark's Joe & The Juice (J&J), plans to invest $250,000 for setting up a chain of outlets over the next one year. Joe & The Juice, a well-known food and beverage brand, has 10 company-owned and three franchisee outlets in Denmark, offering sandwiches, coffee and juices.

"We will set up our first outlet in the Emporio Mall in south-west Delhi. We are talking to Kimaya for a joint alliance and are looking for 100-120 sq.mts of space," J&J founder CEO Kaspar Basse said in Mumbai.

J&J was likely to locate its outlets within the premises of fashion house Kimaya in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and was in talks with it for sealing the deal, Basse said. Confirming the development, Kimaya founder Pradip Hirani said: "We will have to sign on the dotted line."

An investment of Rs 15-20 lakh has been earmarked for setting up each outlet with the company targeting a 30% net profit from its India operations, according to Basse.
