Three-in-one food tech expo in Bangalore in August Saturday, July 10, 2010 A three-in-one exposition covering Agri Tech India 2010, Grain Tech India 2010, India Foodex 2010 will be held at Bangalore between August 20 and 22, at the Gayathri Vihar, Palace Grounds. The four-day event is supported by the ministry of agriculture, the ministry of food processing Industries (MFPI) and APEDA. All the three bodies have a vital stake in increasing food production to meet rising domestic demand and to promote food exports. More than 125 stalls have been booked and so many companies from all around the world are participating. Countries which have confirmed participation include Italy, Philippines, the US, France, Germany, Thailand, the UK, Russia, China and South Africa. All the three expos: -- Agri Tech, Grain Tech and India Foodex -- are closely interlinked to the food business which covers from the grower to the consumer. While Agri Tech will focus on transfer of technology to the farmer and farm mechanisation, Grain Tech will be dedicated to post-harvest management, processing and value-addition of grains. India Foodex will cover the entire ambit of good quality food production which will also cover the range of ready-to-eat products and promotion of retail outlets in India and abroad. APEDA’s aim is to make India a ‘Food Basket’ of the world. APEDA has set an export target of $15 billion worth of food products to be achieved in the coming years. Supporting the display will be a conference with six sessions. These include addressing highlights of international and domestic production scenario, Indian food market and emerging food consumptions, enhancing quality production, marketing through improved technology, innovations in product development and issues of regulations and compliances. Top officials and experts from the government of India, trade bodies and corporate sector are expected to participate in the discussions. Closely associated with the event are key organisations like the Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology, Roller Flour Millers’ Federation of India, Solvent Extractors Association of India, Soyabean Processors Association of India, Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council, All India Food Processors Association, Indian Biscuits Manufacturers’ Association and Bhartiya Krishak Samaj.
