Top international cos for Coffee Festival in Bangalore

The three-day India International Coffee Festival 2009 in Bangalore from October 7 to 9 will focus on global trends and domestic opportunities. About 500 delegates from over 15 countries, comprising coffee growers, roasters, brewers, exporters and equipment manufacturers are expected to participate in the biannual event being organised by the Coffee Board.

G V Krishna Rau, chairman, Coffee Board, about 40 major exhibitors will showcase their products at the Coffee Expo. "The international coffee community has recognised the huge potential of the Indian coffee market and the IICF will be one of the keys to unlock this potential, highlight the trends and showcase available opportunities in the highly promising market," he said.

The countries which will represent in the festival include Brazil, Germany, Italy, Sweden, USA, England, Costa Rica, Japan etc.

The union minister for Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma will be the chief guest and inaugurate the festival. M Veerappa Moily, union minister for Law and Justice will preside over the inaugural function. Other dignitaries include Dr Nestor Osorio, executive director, International Coffee Organisation (ICO), V G Siddhartha, chairman, ABC Trading Limited, G V Krishna Rau, chairman, Coffee Board of India and Anil Kumar Bhandari, convener and coordinator, IICF 2009.

G V Krishna Rau said, "Apart from creating various business opportunities, the festival will serve as a catalyst in the fast-growing retail chain and consumer market, letting participants explore the innovations, network and conduct business. For the Indian entrepreneurs who aim to foray into the Indian retail market, the IICF would be a perfect arena to avail knowledge of the retail industry."

"IICF 2009 will serve to broaden the footprint of Indian coffee industry both in the domestic and the international markets. We are delighted with the response of international participation. The conference programmes and skill building workshops are strong, focused and will generate interactive opportunities for speakers and delegates" said Anil Kumar Bhandari, coordinator of IICF 2009.

The IICF will also be an ideal arena for some of the coffee companies to showcase their products and technology. The Expo will showcase the entire coffee supply chain with leading national and international suppliers, coffee growers, roasters, equipment exporters, importers, manufacturers, retail chains etc.

The response for exhibition for this year's festival has been very encouraging. All the major Indian coffee companies are participating in the Coffee Expo. They include Café Coffee Day, Tata Coffee, Eight O'clock Coffee, Nestle India, Lavazza, Hindustan Unilever Limited etc, Ranaday Exports , Girijan (tribal) Grama Samaj Coffee Growers, SLN Coffee, Lakshmi Brooke Coffee, St Mary's Kalmane and Arekal Estate, Allanas etc

Some of the world class companies are expected to participate viz showcase new technologies and products. Probat of Germany, a manufacturer of coffee roasting machines; CMA from Italy, a manufacturer of professional espresso coffee machine and Mahlkonigs of Germany, a maker of manufacturing coffee grinders, will showcase their products to the industry. Others include Buhler India, McKinnon, Kona Coffee from the USA, Ditting from Switzerland, Scholari Engineering, 4C Coffee Association from Germany.

Coffee equipment makers Probat and Mahlkonigs from Germany, CMA from Italy and Buhler India, McKinnon, Ditting from Switzerland, Scholari Engineering, 4C Coffee Association from Germany and Kona Coffee from the US are the top companies participating in the event.
