Pune-based FreshAcres Agri India Pvt Ltd, one of the leading pomegranates exporters in India, jointly with a Netherlands-based company, Fruit World Breda BV, has opened a pomegranate processing plant at Someshwarnagar near Baramati in Satara district. The two companies have decided to invest about Rs 9.5 crore and enter into a joint venture for pomegranate processing and exports from India.

The company has imported state-of-the-art technology from Juran Technologies, Israel. Further, the FreshAcres also claims that the plant will provide 95% recovery to produce with a production capacity of 150 to 200 kg arils per hour.

According to reports, the processing unit is the first fully automatic plant to process pomegranate and produce packed arils in the country.

To obtain fresh pomegranate the company has tied up with local growers in Pune, Satara, Sangli and Solapur and will offer technical assistance and other support. Initially, the company will export its produce to the European market and in the coming 3-4 months it will meet the domestic demand.
