GEA Process Engineering (India) Pvt Ltd (GEA India) received an order from Chitawon Milk (P) Limited for the Nepal's most prestigious project for 1,00,000 LPD dairy and 15 tonnes per day milk powder plant on Turnkey basis.
GEA, formerly known as L&T-Niro Limited, is now a part of GEA Process Engineering Division (P-Division), and a world leader in liquid and solid processing technologies. GEA P-Division focuses on liquid processing, membrane filtration, concentration, drying, powder processing and handling; supplies customised and advanced plant and equipment with safe and reliable process controls. GEA P-Division is part of Process Engineering segment of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft, Germany.
The project is being set up by Chitawon Milk (P) Limited which belongs to Chitawon Co-E Nepal (P) Ltd - largest and leading construction group of Nepal with excellent repute and proven track record of over four decades.
"The project will put Nepal on the global map for its state-of-the-art technology at par with world standards and would add many firsts to its credit in the Nepal dairy sector. This is a major breakthrough for GEA India in building up the largest and most modern dairy plant in Nepal. After having supplied around 180 spray drying plants in India, with this project, GEA India will be the only company in India to build a plant of such magnitude in Nepal," claims Suket Gohil, the company's assistant general manager.
The project will be put up in Chitawon, Nepal, with state-of-the-art technology at par with world standards and would add many firsts to its credit in the Nepal dairy sector like milk evaporation plant with mechanical vapour re-compression and most efficient multi stage dryer for production of instant milk powder.
The dairy is being set up for producing skimmed milk powder (SMP), baby food and other high value products such as yogurt, butter, ghee, etc. It would be the first SMP plant in the private sector in Nepal and would cater about 30% of the domestic market demand.
It is worthwhile to mention that this is the first of it kind dairy project in Nepal.
With the establishment of powder milk plant, the major problem of milk producers i.e. the milk holiday, will be dealt with to a larger extent. SMP can be stored for a longer period of time and the plant can take in the surplus milk supply in the flush season and hence milk farmers would be encouraged and motivated to produce more milk than their usual production. This will benefit the economic condition of the farmers as well as the national economy of Nepal.
GEA Process Engineering (India) Private Limited will be responsible for total engineering, procurement and supervision of construction (EPC) of the complete project based on the process know-how from world renowned Niro A/S, Denmark and Niro France.
