Leena Nair appointed chairperson of Mpeda

 Leena Nair, an IAS Officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been appointed as the first woman chairperson of Mpeda (Marine Products Export Development Authority).
Ms Nair has vast experience in the filed of Urban Development, Textiles, Excise, Industries, Education and Agriculture. Says Asha Parmeswaran, deputy director, MPEDA, "We are glad to have Ms Nair as the first woman chairman. Being a woman we can somehow relate with her. Her vast experience in fisheries will come on handy for MPEDA."
Before joining Mpeda, Ms Nair held the post of educational secretary in the department of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries and vice chairman and CEO of Tamil Nadu Maritime Board.
Born and brought up in Chandigarh, she is the daughter of the late R Madhavan Nair, who was the Editor-in-Chief of the Tribune.
