fiogf49gjkf0d The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has elected Riyaaz Amlani, founder, managing director, chief executive officer and chief visionary, Impresario Entertainment and Hospitality Pvt Ltd, president.
His name was ratified at the association’s annual general meeting (AGM), which took place in New Delhi recently. According to a statement from the 32-year-old vanguard, he aims to lead it into uncharted culinary frontiers.
Amlani, NRAI’s ex-vice-president, is its youngest president. He runs seven successful brands and over 39 outlets across India, and won the Time Out Food Award for best restaurateur in 2011.
“The food services industry in India is a Rs 2,50,000-crore ($48 billion) business. That is seven times the size of the hotel business, and the third-largest service industry (after insurance and banking),” he said.
“I am deeply honoured and privileged to be part of that, and to have the opportunity to give back to the industry that has given so much to me. Instinct tells me that our industry is ripe with possibilities for growth on all fronts, especially where smaller, stand-alone restaurants are concerned,” Amlani added.
“Being the voice of our fraternity is a phenomenal opportunity, and it is one that I am excited and resolute to exploit to the best of my abilities,” he stated.
Samir Kuckreja, who stepped down as NRAI’s president, said, “I have had an exciting and fulfilling tenure heading NRAI for five years.”
“I have successfully spearheaded the association’s key initiatives, including publishing the India Food Services Report 2013, changes in licensing norms and increasing the membership base by creating regional chapters,” he added.
