Cranberry Marketing Committee (CMC), an American consortium promoting the use and consumption of US cranberries in India, organised a live cookout session with chef Vicky Ratnani at The Bandra Project By Pizza Express in Mumbai. He cooked festive dishes with a healthy cranberry twist.

The festive season every year is loaded with high-calorie food. With mulled wine, liqueur drinks, plum cake, sweets and cookies, the holiday season means some extra inches for all us.

At the event, Ratnani showcased some festive recipes along with a healthy twist of cranberries, which not only reduce calories, but also pack in a lot of nutrition. The fruit also possesses a plethora of advantages, including effective skin maintenance and the ability to fight complications like urinary tract infection (UTI). It is a source of Vitamins B, C, D, E, etc.

“Today’s millennial consumers are putting health at the front and centre of their food needs and are looking at the promise of berries, roots, leaves, and seeds to lead a healthy life,” said Ankur Bisen, senior vice-president, Technopak.

“Due to this changing behaviour and awareness, a lot of international super food such as US cranberries are making inroads to Indian palettes,” he added.

“Looking at this huge market opportunity, CMC is taking a series of initiatives to create awareness among Indian consumers about cranberries’ health benefits and usage,” Bisen said.

“This cookout session is a step forward in raising positive awareness among Indian consumers about US Cranberries,” he added.

The premium food segment currently accounts for about 25 per cent of the total packaged food market and is growing at 10 per cent annually.

Looking at the huge market opportunity, Cranberry Marketing Committee (CMC) is taking a series of initiatives to create awareness and excitement among Indian consumers about cranberries’ health benefits and usage.

The cookout session, called Vicky’s Cranberry Kitchen, is one of the initiatives taken by CMC to engage on-ground with consumers to educate and aware them about the health benefits of the fruit.

During the live US cranberry recipe demonstration, Ratnani said, “The myriad health benefits of US cranberries are being recognised increasingly and we are constantly innovating with food to integrate them into diets year round.”

“These nutrition-packed pearls of nature not only add visual appeal to my recipes, but also make them delicious and healthy,” he added.

“Their versatility as an ingredient allows me to use them for a variety of dishes, from bakes and sauces to juices and soups, and I am always experimenting with them in my food to elevate its health and nutrition quotient,” Ratnani said.
