The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) on Thursday provided an update on the implementation and utilisation of funds under the flagship Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), highlighting significant progress in project approvals and completions across the country.
As of December 31, 2025, a total of 1,607 projects have been approved under various components of PMKSY, of which 1,196 have been completed or operationalised, while the remaining 411 are at various stages of implementation. Delays in some cases were attributed to statutory clearances from agencies such as pollution control boards, electricity and water authorities and licensing bodies, which are prerequisites for grant releases.
The scheme, which operates on a demand-driven basis without state-wise fund allocation, envisages project support from Expression of Interest (EoI) applications evaluated on eligibility and merit. Grants are released only after fulfilling guideline criteria, MoFPI said.
Under the 15th Finance Commission cycle, PMKSY has been allocated Rs 6,520 crore, including an additional Rs 1,920 crore boost. As of January 16, 2026, Rs 4,772.71 crore has been utilised, covering major components such as integrated cold chain and value-addition infrastructure, food processing capacities, and agro-processing clusters. The Scheme for Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure saw utilisation of about ?1,194.60 crore, while mega food parks fully utilised Rs 561.30 crore of available funds.
Other key sub-schemes such as Operation Greens and food safety infrastructure also reported strong fund deployment, indicating heightened momentum in strengthening food value chains.
The government emphasised that targeted support for processing, storage and cold-chain infrastructure will strengthen farm-to-market linkages, reduce post-harvest losses and enhance competitiveness of Indian food products domestically and internationally.
