AIFPA awards & scholarships presented

) has presented awards and scholarships to the selected persons and students for excellent work in the field of food processing industry for the year 2006. These awards and scholarships were presented by Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahai here last week.
Kashalkar Memorial Award-2006
Kashalkar Memorial Award was introduced by AIFPA with the support and goodwill of his sister in 1962 in memory of Y Kashalkar who devoted his whole life for the development of food processing industry in India and organising the industries under the banner of AIFPA. The award carries a gold medal and a citation. Kashalkar Memorial Award for 2006 has been conferred on Dr Subodh Jindal, partner of Excelsior Food & Chemical Industries, New Delhi, for his distinguished services in the field of food processing.
Soilendra Krishna Mitra Memorial Award-2006
Soilendra Krishna Mitra Memorial Award has been instituted by S N Mitra in the year 1998 in memory of his father who established MIDA & Co. Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata. This award for 2006 was conferred on Ballabh Prasad Agarwala, chairman-cum-managing director, Surya Food & Agro Ltd, Noida, ( U P). The award carries a gold medal and a citation.
Subhkaran Jatia Memorial Award-2006
Subhkaran Jatia Memorial Award instituted by his son, Shiv Kumar Jatia, managing director of Asian Hotels, has been conferred on Shyam Bagri, chairman-cum-managing director of Bagrrys India Ltd, New Delhi. The award carries a gold medal, citation and cash of Rs 5000.
Dr J S Pruthi Memorial Award-2006
Dr J S Pruthi has instituted this award in the year 2002 to be given to any person with Life Time Achievements in the areas of fruits and vegetables industry and spices industry. The award carries a gold medal and a citation. The award for 2006 is being conferred on AK Srivastava from Mother Dairy Food Processing Ltd, Bangalore, for his contribution in the field of organised retailing of fruits and vegetables and their products.
Vijay Kumar Mimani Excellence Award-2006
The Vijay Kumar Mimani Excellence Award instituted by Ganesh Products Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata, is given every year to a person who has done outstanding work in framing formulation of public policies and co-ordinating matters of concern for the food processing industries with authorities in the governments at the Centre and the states. The award carries a silver plate and a citation. The award for 2006 is being conferred on Dr K L Gaba for his continued services to food processing industries.
Aifpa Life-Time Achievement Award-2006
AIFPA Life Time Achievement Award has been sponsored by the Association in 1994 and is given to a person for life-time services rendered to the food processing industry in India. The award carries a silver plate and a citation. The award for 2006 is being conferred on Dr M A Haleem, consultant to food industry.
Aifpa President's Special Award-2006
AIFPA President's Special Award was introduced in 1993 to be given every year at the sole discretion of the president to a person who renders outstanding services to the food processing industry and to the Association. The award carries a silver plate and a citation. This award for 2006 is being conferred on Dr H N Mishra, professor, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
N A Pandit Memorial Award-2006
N A Pandit Memorial Award has been instituted by his wife and children in the fond memory of N A Pandit, an eminent food technologist and former president of All-India Food Processors' Association who devoted his entire life for the establishment and growth of food processing industry in the country. The award is to be given for the "Best Product Innovation" and carries a silver plate and a citation. For the year 2006, the award is being conferred on M/s Kejriwal Bee Care (India) Pvt. Ltd, which has developed the innovative product named "HONEY CHEW".
Besides these awards, some scholarships have been given to the writers for their articles published in AIFPA magazine Indian Food Packer. The KU Patel Memorial Award for Overall Best Paper has been given to S M Aradhya. The N N Mohan Award for Best Research Paper has been given to A Padmashree. The Kejriwal Award for Best Article of interest has been given to Neelima Garg and Noopur Goel. The Gits Award for Best Paper on Marketing has been given to Rajat Baisya. Dr J S Pruthi Award on Development of New Product has been given to Nilima Neog and Bidyut C Deka.
Some scholarships have been given to the students for their excellent performance.
The Dayanand Memorial Scholarship has been given to Pooja Verma and Nand Kishor Bharti of State Institute of Food Preserving Technology, Lucknow. The J S Srivastava Memorial Scholarship has been given to Devesh Kumar of Institute of Food Processing Technology, Lucknow and Manvi, University of Allahabad. Y K Kapoor Memorial Scholarship has been given to Chaynika Verma and Neelam Upadhyay, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences, Delhi University.
