Pune-based entrepreneur Avinash Vaidya is all set to join the club of Indian inventors, whose invention has been recognised and accepted by the United States Patent and Trade Marks office. The 'Sensor device for measuring frequency and amplitude of varying force signals' designed by Vaidya has won him the US patent after bagging the domestic one. Vaidya was assisted by Dr Mohan Dewan, Pune's leading patent attorney, in obtaining the US and the Indian patents.

A Masters in Electronics Engineering, Vaidya is the chief promoter of INCONEL, which is the leading manufacturer of Vortex Flow Meters in India.

INCONEL offers flow meter for water for injection -- ultra pure water, DM Water. The flow meters are reliable with no moving parts. All SS-316-L construction with triclover end connections. The flow meters are suitable for pharmaceutical - bio technology, food & beverages industries.

Inconel's history with Vortex Flow Meters goes back to 1978 when it was awarded the first patent and the first Indigenous Vortex Flow Meter was introduced in India. In 1982 INCONEL introduced a family of commercial sized flow meters that are routinely required by the chemical industry, R & D laboratories, fertilizer and automobile industries. Today Inconel has several models and various special flow meters developed for customers' particular needs, for the domestic as well as the exports/overseas market

These flow meters are utilised to measure the flow of air, gas, water and any other type of fluids. Few areas of applications of these flow meters include city water supplies, boiler feed water, water treatment plants, bio-gas and natural gas plants, gas engines, furnaces and in the monitoring of plant-wise consumption of the compressed air largely used in various industries.

"This device was developed as a part of our ongoing research & development effort, where we continuously try to improve upon the performance of our products to the best possible extent", said Avinash Vaidya, who is the pioneer in indigenous manufacturing of Vortex FLOW METERS.

According to Vaidya, some of the important highlights of the Vortex Flow Meters manufactured utilising this patent winning sensor device as compared to Orifice type and other flow meters are, saving in electric power consumption of pumps and compressors up to 3 times, primarily due to low pressure loss.

The second important feature is that the wide measuring range, which gets expanded on both the ends low and high.

The most important feature of the Vortex Flow Meter made with the Patent winning sensor device is that it increases the overall accuracy, as the design facilitates noise suppression and a large signal to noise ratio is obtained.

Vaidya pointed out that the sensor devise developed by him has applications not only in Flow Meters but also in CNC Machining, Robotics, and other machines where reliable monitoring of parameters and signals is required.

Upbeat with the receipt of the US patent, Vaidya is now aiming at a high growth and is looking for companies from US and Europe for a possible tie-up for manufacturing and sale of Flow Meters with this unique sensor device.

Some of the eminent customers of Inconel include Nuclear Power Corporation, Tata Motors, L&T, Jindal, Godrej, Mahindra and Mahindra, Essar, Bajaj Auto, IPCL, Reliance Petroleum, Ultratech, Hindalco, Nalco, Amul, and Aventis.
