Carlsberg India has strengthened its manufacturing footprint in Karnataka with the inauguration of a new canning line at its Mysuru brewery, marking a key milestone in the company’s expansion plans for the Indian market. The new facility has been developed with an investment of Rs 100 crore and is aimed at meeting the growing consumer preference for beer in cans.

The addition follows Carlsberg India’s earlier commitment announced at Invest Karnataka 2025, where the company outlined a broader investment plan of Rs 350 crore to expand and modernise its Mysuru operations. With the new can line now operational, the brewery’s capacity has been enhanced to produce up to 22,000 cans per hour, significantly strengthening supply capabilities across the region.

Located in Nanjangud taluk, the Mysuru brewery plays a strategic role in Carlsberg India’s southern India operations. According to India Managing Director Nilesh Patel, the expansion reflects the company’s long-term confidence in India and its continued commitment to Karnataka as a key manufacturing hub. He noted that the investment will enable the company to deliver international-quality beers in a more sustainable manner while supporting the state’s economy through higher excise contributions and local employment generation.

Sustainability remains a core focus of the Mysuru facility. The brewery integrates renewable energy solutions, including solar power installations and biomass boilers, to reduce its environmental footprint. Carlsberg India is also actively working on water stewardship initiatives, collaborating with local partners to improve water efficiency and promote responsible water management in the surrounding communities.

With demand for canned beer rising across urban and semi-urban markets, the new can line positions Carlsberg India to respond more effectively to evolving consumption trends. The expansion underscores the company’s strategy of combining capacity growth, sustainability, and localisation to drive long-term growth in one of its most important emerging markets.
