Family farms change agents in sustainable food security, says SOFA ’14

About 90 per cent of the world’s 570 million farms are managed by families, making family farms the predominant forms of agriculture, and consequently, potentially crucial agents of change in achieving sustainable food security and in eradicating hunger in the future, according to a recent report titled ‘State of Food and Agriculture 2014’ (SOFA), by the United Nations’ (UN) Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
